SHELBY, NC - Community members are invited to join local organizations in recognizing International Overdose Awareness Day on Monday, August 31, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Totally Free Clothes and Thrifty Thrift Store, located at 318 Gidney Street, Shelby, NC. This free community event is open to everyone and is dedicated to remembering those who have lost their lives to overdose, supporting individuals and families affected by substance use, and raising awareness about overdose prevention and recovery resources. The event will feature guest speakers, community resource information, free food, door prizes, naloxone training, a remembrance wall, and a moment of silence to honor the lives lost to overdose. Attendees will also have the opportunity to connect with local organizations offering prevention, treatment, recovery, and support services.
Star is so sweet & loves being outside, 5/6 year old, 60 pound Lab mix. Star is good with cats, other dogs and house trained. She sleeps on her fur blanket at the bottom of the bed, & enjoys her evening piece of cheese with her incontinence medicine. Star would thrive best in a quiet home with an adopter who could give her lots of love & patience as she is a very shy girl.
