Mr. Ben Champion, 76 of Shelby, NC passed away Saturday, September 4, 2010. A Memorial Service Celebrating his life was held at Putnam Memorial Baptist Church.
Mr. Champion served our country in the U.S. Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Odis and Laura Bridges Champion; 2 brothers; and 3 sisters.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Carole Lackey Champion; 2 daughters, Gina C. Johnson and husband Terry, and Donna C. Beam and husband John, all of Shelby; 1 sister, Eloise Jones of Shelby; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; by a number of nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Estelle Lackey of Michigan; a sister-in-law, Sue Butler of Forest City, NC; and 1 brother-in-law, Bill Lackey and wife Cindy of Michigan.
