What: Hike with the C.A.R.E. Dogs
When: 10:00 am until Noon, September 5.
Where: 807 S. Battleground Ave., Kings Mountain, NC.
More Info: We skipped the hottest part of the summer and our doggies are ready to hit the trails again! We will resume our monthly hikes on September 5th and cannot wait to see you again. Our doggies are so looking forward to the fun! Whether you want to take a long hike or a short one, up hills or flat land, we got a dog that would love to go with you.

More Info: Scott Withrow, originally from Ellenboro, will join us with information about The Hidden History of Rutherford County. He is a co-editor of his family newsletter and has published the Super Highway in Upstate South Carolina. Hope you can come and enjoy this program with us. Everyone is welcome.

What: 49th Annual Cleveland Lincoln County Rose Show
When: 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm, September 26.
Where: Cleveland County Extension Office, 130 S. Post Rd., Shelby, NC.
More Info: Admission is free, the show is open to the public. Come enjoy a beautiful display of locally grown roses, meet experienced rosarians, and learn more about growing roses on your own. Have a rose you are proud of? Bring it! You do not have to be a Rose Society member or an experienced exhibitor to enter, and a novice class is available for those new to showing roses. This year visitors can also bring an unidentified rose between 7am and 10 am on Saturday and let our rosarians help determine it's variety. The rose show will open 1 to 4 PM for the public to view the beautiful roses, photography class and arrangements classes that have been judged. At 4:00 PM, the show roses will be sold to the public, with long-stem roses 3 for $1 and smaller rose 4 for $1. Bring your own container and take home some of the lovely roses! Whether you grow roses, want to learn, or simply love beautiful flowers, everyone is welcome.

Foothills Quilters Guild: Foothills Quilters Guild invites you to join us each month on the third Thursday at the Ascension Lutheran Church 300 N. Lafayette St in Shelby NC. We welcome new members young and old to learn and share in the talents and knowledge of the art of Quilting. Our doors are open at 10am for open sew day. Bring your machine and any project to work on or join in on the mystery Block of the Month or other fun activities throughout the day. Our meeting begins at 7pm with Demonstrations and Programs from area speakers followed by show and tell, door prizes and other meeting content. Call 803-370-0357 for more information.


Nar-Anon Support Group: Meets 6:30 pm weekly on Tuesdays at the First Baptist Church, 120 N. Lafayette St., Shelby, NC. Nar-Anon is a support group for those affected by someone else's drug addiction. We meet in the classroom off Dale St. between Sumter & Campbell St. Park on the side of the church or in the alley. Al-Anon Support Groups: Al-Anon Family Support Groups support those who are affected by someone else's drinking and drug use. No Name AFG meets on Mondays at Noon at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, 510 W Sumter St., Shelby. Contact Kay at 704-473-4891. Monthly Meeting at American Legion, Post 82: 2nd Monday of every month. Meal at 6:00 pm, Meeting at 6:30 pm. Warren F. Hoyle, American Legion, Post 82, 1628 South Lafayette St., Shelby, NC. We invite all Veterans to attend our monthly meetings. If you are a son or grandson of a veteran, you can join the Sons of the American Legion. Members of the Legion family can join the Legion Riders. To join the American Legion, the veteran holds an honorable discharge or is an active duty veteran. Spouses, daughters, granddaughters of a veteran can join the Auxiliary.
