Shirley Jean Byers, 90, of 336 Bridges Road, passed away on Friday, July 9th, 2021, at her residence.

Born in Morrisville, she was the wife of William Gene Byers and the daughter of the late David and Teresa Woodall. Mrs. Byers retired after 20+ years as a teacher's assistant in Blacksburg schools and was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Byers is survived by two sons, Scott Gregory Byers (Deanna) and William Christopher Byers (Janet), a daughter, Beverly Greene, two grandchildren, Liam Cooper Byers and Heather George Earls, and a great-granddaughter, Chloe Jade Earls.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, James, David, Bruce, William, and Ray and her sisters, Mary Elizabeth and Ruth Evelyn.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 11th, 2021, from 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm at Gordon Mortuary. Graveside services will be held Monday, July 12th, 2021, at 4:00 pm in the Buffalo Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Richard Brown officiating.
