Boys & Girls Club Rural Experience For Youth
Daviona and Shedrick find new friends at SonRidge Farm in Kings Mountain.
Daviona and Shedrick find new friends at SonRidge Farm in Kings Mountain.
For three days, first, second, and third graders from the Boys & Girls Club of Cleveland County experienced farm life at SonRidge Farm. They learned about working with horses, feeding and milking goats, making their own butter, blacksmithing, all about honey, miniature pigs, and making goat milk soap. The kids loved the educational opportunities available on the farm. SonRidge Farm likes to brag that they try to have “one of everything under the sun.” The fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh graders of the Boys & Girls Club will spend  full days at the farm on July 15th through 17th. These opportunities are made through donations to the Rural Experience For Youth Program, coordinated by Dr. Collette Deviney and Ted Alexander. - M.A. Andrews
