James "Scott" Strickland, age 57, died Saturday, August 11, 2018 at his home in Shelby. Born in Cleveland County on November 28, 1960 he was the son of James Ervin Strickland and Martha Smith Strickland. Scott was a graduate of Western Carolina University. He enjoyed all things outdoors, especially fishing.

He was preceded in death by his father, James.

Scott is survived by his wife of 33 years, Kim Kendrick Strickland, one daughter, Madison Webber and husband Justin of Shelby, one son, Matthew Strickland of Concord, his mother Martha Smith Strickland of Shelby as well as two sisters; Wendy Patterson and husband Darrell of Shelby and Tina Ferrell and husband Eric of Kings Mountain and many loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 15, 2018 from 6pm until 7:30 pm at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will hold a private ceremony for the scattering of his ashes.
