Local Leaders Bring Welcome President Trump visits Western NC

Just four days after his inauguration, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania visited Western North Carolina on Friday, January 24, to highlight the ongoing devastation caused by Hurricane Helene and the continued recovery efforts needed in the community.
The recovery process from Hurricane Helene, which struck 18 weeks earlier, has been slow and difficult.

The late-night hours of November 22 probably saw Til-Mar Textiles, Inc. president Jack Jackson snoozing peacefully. Little did he know, but at that very time, something was beginning to unfold at his 130,000 sq. ft. factory at 1305 Frederick St. that would bring the slumber to a screeching halt.
That event was a fire.


Christmas celebration in Chimney Rock Village

Chimney Rock Village, devastated by Hurricane Helene, will reopen for a Christmas celebration on Saturday, Dec. 14 from 10am to 4pm. The Christmas celebration is a one day only event and visitors will be able to tour the area.

Army veteran's passion ignites a partnership to install new roof

A construction company in Shelby is answering the call to help veterans in Rutherford County and is partnering with the Cpl. Chris S. Ebert Marine Corps League Detachment #1221 in Forest City to make this happen. CPS Construction: Roofing, Window, Siding & Gutters, has agreed to install a new roof on the home of a veteran in need.


Bands Unite for Hurricane Relief at GWU To Support Disaster Recovery

Gardner-Webb University and the Office of Student Engagement will host the Western N.C. Benefit Concert Sunday, Oct. 27, at 5pm in the Brinkley Amphitheater. The event will raise funds and collect donations for disaster relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Helene. Three musical acts will share their talents- The Local Boys, Howltree, and Mason Cole-and offer the community an opportunity to come together in support of those impacted by the storm in western North Carolina.


More than 'mush - NC Liver Mush Festival coming to Shelby

One of the world's great culinary delicacies, liver mush, will be the center of attention Saturday, October 19 from 9am to 4pm in Uptown Shelby when the 39th annual North Carolina Liver Mush Festival (AKA Mush, Music & Mutts Festival) takes place.


Hot stuff coming to Cleveland Mall on Oct. 1

Thanks to young entrepreneur Duncan Blount, things are fixin' to get hot and spicy in the Cleveland County region.
That's because Blount will be throwing open the doors to his new Cleveland Mall store, Shelby Spice, on October 1 where his homemade hot sauce as well as other condiments and gourmet goodies, many made by local folks, will be for sale.


Cleveland County Fair celebrates 100th anniversary

Strike up the band because the Cleveland County Fair is hitting the century mark of operation this year.
The centennial show will open the gates at its traditional location, 1751 E. Marion St., in Shelby on Thursday, Sept. 26 and will be providing fun, food, agricultural displays, music, and mechanical merriment until closing day on Sunday, Oct. 6.


Mountaineer Days Heritage Festival is Back!

The City of Kings Mountain is proud to bring back a beloved festival, the Mountaineer Days Heritage Festival, scheduled for October 12, 2024.
The festival kick-off will begin Friday, October 11th, at 7 p.m., when country music artist, author, and Kings Mountain native Jimmy Wayne will perform at the Joy Performance Center.
