Mr. Thurman Franklin Fortenberry, 89, of  White Oak Manor, Shelby, NC,  passed away Saturday, May 8, 2010. Services were held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Burial followed in Cleveland Memorial Park with Military Honors.

Mr. Fortenberry served our country in the U.S. Navy  - WWII, serving in the South Pacific.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Fay Camp Fortenberry; his parents, William S. Fortenberry and Maggie Jane Wilson Fortenberry; 3 brothers, D. Arnold Fortenberry, Sr., Clevie, and William “Dub” Fortenberry; and 1 sister, Paris Eudy.

He is survived by 1 daughter, Alena Waxter and her husband Tom of Shelby; 1 son, Donald Fortenberry and wife Julie of Mt. Kisco, NY; 4 grandchildren; and 3 great-granddaughters.
